Active Fire Perimeters

activeFirePerimeters

Mapped perimeter footprints of currently active wildfires from NIFC's WFIGS Current Perimeters feed. Each polygon is the latest reported perimeter for one incident, categorized as Wildfire Daily Fire Perimeter or Prescribed Fire. No attribute field marks the state; the layer is filtered to Wyoming via the same bbox spatial filter used elsewhere in the alternate viewer. Pairs with the Active Wildfires points layer incidents too small to have a mapped perimeter still appear there.

interagencyFirePerimeters

The WFIGS (Wildland Fire Interagency Geospatial Services) Interagency Perimeters layer provides the most current wildland fire perimeters reported by all participating agencies through the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC). Perimeters originate from field-collected GIS data submitted to the interagency IRWIN incident database and are updated continuously as incidents are reported. The dataset includes both final and in-progress (daily) fire perimeters for incidents across the United States; this view is filtered to wildfires within Wyoming.
